Passing through town via IH-10, we decided to stop at Cooper's, recommended by a family member. The restaurant operates on a cafeteria-style serving line, so you get your food faster than a cheetah on an espresso. Drinks are self-service, so you're in charge of keeping yourself hydrated.
I had the turkey plate, which was excellent, though my wallet felt it was about $5 too enthusiastic. However, the portion of turkey was so generous it could've doubled as a Thanksgiving centerpiece. The sides were solid too; the coleslaw was particularly good and came in generous portions. My spouse had the chopped burger, which we thought was good, though not a culinary love story.
Now, the restroom situation was a different story. It was small and had an aroma that could best be described as "rustic." Being so close to the highway, it seems like everyone passing through stops at Cooper's to use the facilities. Honestly, the restrooms at the IH-10 rest area were cleaner. Maybe next time, we'll just swing by for the turkey and stick to the rest area's restrooms for a pit stop!
Been a bucket list item of mine since Josh Abbott and Pat Green reference Cooper's in the song My Texas. Unfortunately the staff had no idea what I was talking about until I played it for them LOL as far as the brisket plate I ordered goes, I had trouble finishing it along with the mac and cheese and baked beans I ordered as sides.. everything was great all the way down to the sweet tea. They also have an outside area for you to eat if you so choose.. all in all, it met my expectations and then some.. if you are in the area of exit 456 on interstate 10... You should stop and get you some.
Looking for a good BBQ in Junction, Texas then this is the place. We always stop here before heading to Garner State Park or San Antonio. Worth checking out if you enjoy brisket.
Pretty good BBQ. The sides were tasty but portioned like war rations. The Coleslaw and Green Beans were absolute WINNERS!!!
We took our food TO GO, but they have a nice dinning room as well as outback seating, picnic table style.
Overall, We enjoyed the meals. Im sure we'll stop in again.
TRUCKERS: They do have a few spaces available....DONT SHUTDOWN THERE!! Limit ur time so other drivers can use them as well. Theres truck parking across the road to shutdown.
Fall off the bone goodness! Brisket, ribs, sausage, Cole slaw, potato salad and pecan cobbler! 😋
Always a good place to eat after a long day at work 😃
I've been coming here for years. I live out in California, but this is where i go to get my barbecue. Cooper, best barbecue anywhere period Well, nothing last forever. Cooper's is no more sad day can't say best BBQ. no more it not coop.
I heard Texas brisket it’s the best. I think it’s true. Cooper’s brisket delicious best I ever had. Burnt on top tender inside. My wife doesn’t do much bbq. She loved it. Good food….
The brisket and sausage were fantastic! The service was lacking in hospitality.
Need no teef to eat their beef. And their slogan "you can't beat their meet" is spot on. Great BBQ and atmosphere
After 24 years of passing by and it a great place to eat
Such great people. We have had a lot of BBQ since moving to Texas, and this has to be in our top 3 for great food.
Best place to eat bar b q
Meat was great...BBQ sauce was trash. Potato salad good. Mac and cheese so-so. Nice place nice people.
Service wonderful. The bbq not impressive. Blackberry coupler is wonderful. Parking: Plenty room for my motorhome class A. Wheelchair accessibility: Great. It’s accessible place.
La comida está muy rica y el servicio muy bueno pero subieron sus precios y dan menos porción
Brisket, potato salad, green beans and the Mac and cheese was great! Worth the price! $20-$25. There is RV and truck parking.
Great food! Always a stop whenever traveling near Junction, Texas Highly recommended Parking: Truck parking available.
Really good place, enjoyed my time here. The brisket was perfect. Juicy, and tender. The vinegar based sauce was fantastic. Very subtle and doesn’t over-power the taste of the meat. Staff is really nice as well. Will be returning in the future for sure.
They have tasty meats. We got combo plates and it was enough to feed two people. Sides were also tasty. :)
This place is great! The food was delicious. Great flavor, nothing was too dry, nor was it drowning in bbq sauce. All the staff was friendly.
Being from south Texas I am super picky about bbq -- this is good bbq!
This is a must stop place for us when we're traveling through.
Great food, good service and nice dining area. Brisket was pit smoked perfectly. You have to sauce it to taste if you're not familiar with dry smoked bar b que. Sausage was delicious with the sauce or ketchup. Cobbler was very good got blackberry to go. Oh and for anyone complaining about the price there is a McDonald's across the street.
